James Cameron
James Cameron was born august 16, 1954 in Canada. He is a well-known filmmaker, director, producer, screenwriter, inventor, engineer and philanthropist. After he tried working in special effects, he found his real talent in directing and writing. His movies are enormous blockbusters that received major critics from the public such as The Terminator, Aliens, Titanic and of coarse Avatar. Although most of his movies are science fiction, Titanic was a huge production that earned him the Oscar to best picture. The most important contributions to the sci-fi world was The Terminator and Avatar. The Terminator talked about a futuristic world were robots and humans lived together in peace. The plot basically illustrates the revenge plan of a robot that tries to establish justice by his means. This movie is filled with impressive and outstanding images swell as digitally enhanced characters and create cgi techniques. The terminator is an icon in todays sci fi industry and therefore here comes the importance of this director. Avatar was an even more popular movie. This project was left untouched for ten years due to technical problems. However after developing a motion capture system Cameron was able to procede with the movie. Avatar talks about a world called Pandora where humans arrive and start destroying the planet for its resources. A medically ill soldier tries to save the local people of the planet (Navi) and create a civil war between local creatures and humans. The full movie is cgi and motion capture, the graphics are just impressively relationship and creative. It had such a success that they will be releasing 4 more movies. Avatar established a new range of movies and a new genre in the science fiction world.
